Oral Cancer also known as ‘silent killer’ is one of the major concerns of death in India. Symptoms of mouth cancer are very subtle, if not invisible to the naked eye. For that reason, it is important to recognize the signs and the dangers of letting those indications linger.
Indian Dental Association takes up the burden to make India an Oral Cancer free country. To attain this goal; patients are educated and helped to quit cancer causing addictions, awareness programs are held, dentists are been trained and guided to help patients know the early warning signs or the benefits in early detection of oral cancer etc.
One of the mesmerizing events that Indian Dental Association is privileged to host is ‘Madhosh’, a live ghazal concert by Padmashri Pankaj Udas for the aid of oral cancer prevention on 5th May 2017, Nehru Centre, Mumbai.
As in The Hindu, 25th Sep 2002, Padmashri Pankaj Udas said, “There’s no short cut to success, I lost my father to cancer” A pause later, he added, “I know the pain and trauma that one undergoes. It is a menace and I think, each one of us has to come out and support the cause.” A little-known fact is that Padmashri Pankaj Udhas is the chairman of the Parent’s Thalassemic Unit and has helped raise huge amounts for the Cancer Patients Aid Society through his concerts.
In concern to the oral cancer patients, he added, “It is alarming. I am an anti-tobacco person. I plead with all those hooked on tobacco to give it up. They not only help themselves but also their family, and society at large.” There was an urgent plea in his voice.
Indian Dental Association invites you to ‘Madhosh’ an oral cancer charity event to pledge your support to ‘Be a Life Saver’ with the soft-spoken and genteel ghazal singer, Padmashri Pankaj Udas who has concern for the cancer patients.
As quoted by Nelson Mandela, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
